Health Leader Forge Interview Recap - Lamprey Health Care

This past Friday, Regan and I guest-hosted for The Health Leader Forge podcast series that Professor Bonica runs on SoundCloud. We had the opportunity to interview Gregory White, the CEO of Lamprey Health Care in Newmarket, New Hampshire. Lamprey Health Care is a private, non-profit community health center serving over 16,000 patients a year. Greg has had quite a bit of experience with community health centers in a variety of locations including Lowell, MA and Manchester, NH prior to coming to Newmarket. I was able to learn a lot about federally qualified health centers such as Lamprey Health Care, which was great because we don't spend too much time talking about these types of health care organizations in management. I particularly enjoyed the segment at the end of the interview where we focused our questions around leadership. We asked a variety of questions about Greg's experiences in leadership. What I enjoyed the most was when we discussed mentorship, particularly because we had just had a class based around the topic. He discussed his experience in mentorship with two very different leaders, which gave him the opportunity to learn very different leadership techniques. From this the greatest takeaway for me was to learn as much as possible from as many different people as possible. We spent a lot of Management I last semester listening to interviews on the Health Leader Forge, so it was great to be a part of it first hand. Additionally, I have never been on the interviewer side of an interview, so it was fun to get that different perspective. I am looking forward to hearing how it comes out once it's edited!
